March 8 is International Women's Day... We have been writing and talking a lot about the meaning and importance of this day for years. There are of course many things to say, but for us, March 8 is a day of awareness about what women have been going through throughout history and are still going through today. As Ünoks, we have turned March 8th International Working Women's Day into a social responsibility project to draw attention to this awareness.
For the last few years, in order to both honor the women working in our industry and to reach out to women who need support for different reasons, we have been contributing to foundations or associations that we have carefully selected, and we reach out to our business women who work in our industry with gifts from the hands of these associations and foundations, and we want to make them feel that we are with them.
In the past years, we have succeeded in reaching many women and female students with both financial support and scholarship support through our work with the Purple Roof Women's Shelter Foundation, the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life, the Women's Cooperatives in Hatay's Defne district with the formation of From the Hands of Women, the Foundation for the Evaluation of Women's Work and Wista Turkey.
In doing so, our aim is not only to make an economic contribution. We also want to remind everyone we can reach, men and women alike, of the aims of these organizations. To remind our environment of the struggle for existence of girls whose education is hindered due to economic difficulties or sociocultural perspectives, young girls who spend their student years with material and moral difficulties in order to exist in male-dominated sectors, women fleeing from male terror, those who are still victimized today due to the earthquake, and all our women who struggle with all kinds of physical or psychological bullying as women.
After all the hardships we have gone through and are going through as a country, it is a debt we owe to Turkish women to remember and remind them as the women and men of this land.
We hope that our message reaches everyone, men and women. A male employee might be questioning why his female coworker celebrated Women's Day with a gift from the Mor Çatı Foundation. A male reader is reading these lines with the interest shown by female readers. Indeed, hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, women will support each other under all circumstances. Only when this support comes from men as well as women can we speak of an equal and just order.
On March 8 and every new day that follows, we wish everyone a lot of empathy, common sense, justice and equality.
